Heritage
Cornwall has so much industrial heritage scattered around the countryside that you cant fail to be moved by the architecture craftsmanship and ingenuity taken to construct places such as this. Some of these engine houses are so large that when you walk through them it almost feels that you are walking into a church or cathedral. Whilst here I said to one chap who walked in after me "Its like walking into a cathedral isn't it ? " He replied in an American drawl "seems like a great place for a party ! " Well I guess it is too !
These engine houses feature on the Great Flat Lode Trail of which we wandered along for a little bit.
Previously we had visited Carn Brae Castle & Monument which overlooks Pool and in the far distance St Ives Bay.
Having tired ourselves out here we then drove into Helston for a mosey round. Everywhere is so quiet...
From here we drove down towards the Lizard but turned off at RNAS Culdrose to Gunwalloe & Church Cove. This is one of the best places I know on the Lizard. Usually fairly quiet with an NT car park at the end and a short walk to a lovely beach with a Church right on the beach.
When we got there today the tide was on its way in. We sat and ate our pasties and watched the huge waves crashing onto the rocks on the foreshore.
We made our way back to the pad & this is when things got interesting;
yesterday when we arrived there was an odour of heating oil in the cottage. Jeremy told us that there had been a leak which had been repaired and as the evening wore on last night the pong gradually got worse. When we got up this morning it was bad. When we got in tonight it was worse. So I made polite enquiries & we changed cottages tonight. We were in Nine Maidens & are now in Orchard View....phew !
I don't know if I mentioned this but the weather is fantastic !
