"They mate for life you know .."

I doubt a month goes by without someone telling me something or other be it bats, beetles or bullfinches mates/pairs for life. In sure in most cases it's baloney.

And I'm not suggesting that Canada Geese are vivo monogamous in toto. However, this particular goose seems to be absolutely determined that he/she isn't moving home any time soon. I know this because this picture was taken a few weeks ago when Gas Street Basin was partially emptied but this bloody minded goose was still resolutely inhabiting the very same piece of canal that he was today.

Or maybe it's a different goose.
