Oh what a night

 Backblip day 6
Wow, what a fantastic night !!!! Luckily Mike had one last look before coming to bed and saw that the aurora had developed even further. So we quickly put on our thick coats and ventured out into the snow and were greeted by the most amazing sight. Right above our heads a corona had developed making a flower shape of different colours. As we watched the sky began to move , curtains of light moving one way then the next. knowing WHERE to look was a challenge as we were surrounded. Shooting stars crossed the sky as more colours became visible.
This continued for another three and a half hours at least, not feeling too cold despite the temperature dropping well into minus figures. We did nt want to miss a thing. Then above our heads the most amazing sight, the sight that makes tears come to your eyes .Incredible !!!!!
We feel so lucky to have witnessed them and this photo does nt do them justice. Richard managed to get some really good , colourful shots from his little camera and a tripod. I gave up and just enjoyed the experience. A memory we will never forget :)
