Le Trepied Dolmen

This morning I took a cycle ride around the coast to Perelle. It's a bit overcast and 'clammy' so not the best time for cycling and blipping. My destination today was Le Trepied Dolmen which is a Neolithic passage grave, built sometime between 4000 to 2500 BC. According to the information at the site, it was in use until the late bronze age, 1000 BC, with successive burials deposited in the chamber with grave goods which included pottery, flint and stone tools. It was originally excavated in 1840 and the artefacts found can be seen in the local museum.
According to local folk law the tomb was a notorious meeting place for Guernsey witches and the place is frequently mentioned in the 17th century witch trials.
