Something different at Heligan

The Lost Gardens are something of a legend in Cornwall where an Estate became neglected, abandoned and  totally overgrown in about 1915, only to be discovered in the 1980's and gradually brought back to life. Included in the find were old greenhouses and a pineapple pit dating way back. Pineapples were originally grown  in compost with the heat provided by decomposing horse manure. They are still grown today but using more up to date methods. Anyway rather than views of the extensive gardens I have focussed on more unusual aspects of our visit. A "face in the trunk of a Palm tree, antique gardening tools, a pleached alley of apple trees and an interesting ( I thought) tree stump. Now back home and will try to catch up on comments.
