Fastball down the middle

Ah yes, the (THE) true American "pastime" baseball - on a junior level - an awfully lot like County cricket back in Britain, where the lust and lure of money is not the primary driving force (I'm not totally stupid mind you) behind participation therein.

Collegiate and high school sports teams are the starting point of a major leaguer's career and most towns support them unreservedly; primarily because little Johnny or Timmy are on the team and the grandparents must show support, or risk living in an assisted living facility later in life!

By-the-by, War Mongering is only the 'phoney' American Pastime, hopefully it'll go the way of stupidity: only sooner!

(The player, pictured went 6 with no hits, 4 strike outs and 1 walk, winning 3-0)
