Feliç Sant Jordi, Dd!

Today is Saint George's Day here in Catalonia. All the boys buy the girls a rose and the girls buy the boys a book. Dd is not here to enjoy the lovely atmosphere in the streets with roses on sale on every street corner and every book shop with long tables laden with books on the pavements. It always seems to be sunny on this date which is not only St. George's Day but the birthday of Shakespeare and the death day of Cervantes.

The rose you see held by our local flower lady is for Dd. It's not just a virtual rose for her but, like the Olympic torch, will pass from the hands you see holding it to Dd's hands early on Saturday in Cairo via Rome.. No other Sant Jordi rose will travel further. And it's great to have Saturday's blip already in the bag!
