Life's Little Moments

Just for the red of it

Today seemed like a good day to blip His Royal Redness, the northern cardinal.  He was "hiding" in the cherry tree - which is covered in white blossoms at the moment, making the whole hiding thing a little incongruous for a bright red bird.  Just as I am writing this, he and his mate are sitting at the suet feeder right outside my office window, having a snack.

I am sending this blip out to two blip-friends who have a special connection to cardinals...  Texann (who I had the pleasure of spending time with in Savannah last weekend) and Legacy (whom I haven't met, but hope to one day).  Thinking of you both.

I met up with a friend for a walk on a favorite trail this morning - but it was so cold and windy that we only stayed out an hour.  We didn't see much - some great blue herons, bald eagle, osprey, loads of robins and blackbirds.  Just after we left the trail, snow flurries started - big YUCK.  Back home where I could run in and warm up.  The backyard was ablaze with colorful birds - the deep raspberry Purple finches, the bright lemony-yellow goldfinches, the cardinals and the blue jays.  Like a rainbow of feathers.  And they all went flying into the trees when the Cooper's Hawk zoomed in, hoping to snag an unsuspecting meal.  Exciting times on the Lane...

Off to see a new podiatrist today - the never-ending saga of sore feet.  Becoming "more mature" isn't for the faint of heart.

Hubs is off to the race-track tonight.  Let's hope no one smashes up the car before the 12-hour race is done!

Toodles, people.
