Out on the water
Back blip
The forecast was good for today so we booked a boat trip for the afternoon. Just before we left we received a phone call to say that they would only be running one trip so could we make it for 10 O clock. Timing was really tight but we said we would try.
Stopped at the N1 café as I needed the loo desperately and knew I could nt hang on when on the boat.
We made it, just, and they waited till we were dressed in our thermal , waterproof clothing. I always worry that it will be difficult to board the boat, trip to the Summer Isles a few years was nt easy, but no problems at all.
A stunning day with clear skies and sunshine. We were very lucky. No whales but two pods of white beaked dolphins, gannets, fulmers, guillemots and a puffin were just a few of the sightings.
We stopped with the view of a small island covered in cormorants with the most photographed mountain in Iceland, KIRKUFELL and drank hot chocolate and ate cake, bliss :)
The rest of the day was spent exploring the area with a walk on the beach and a walk to a waterfall.
Burger and chips take away for tea which we ate in the car looking over the water and village of Grundarfjorour.
Another display of the Northern lights with waves of light spreading across the sky.
