A ton of water....

The days plans went all to pot by 7am !  Wee brother phoned wanting me to try an sort the water supply out at the cottages. The tank had run dry with all the water problems over the last week,and now everything was air locked. Had to fill an IBC with water from here and then take it over and connect a pump to the pipe from the tank and pump water backwards to bleed the system. The first thing to break was the pull cord on the pump. Fixed that,then the recoil spring broke,so after a bit of swearing,took the cover off and resorted to the old fashioned way of wrapping the rope round the pulley and tugging. No problem!
Had to help bring a pair of twin calves in tonight as they hadn't sucked. That's the 3rd set we've had so far. I had another cow calved tonight. Swithered about bringing them in ,as forecast not brilliant. But when I checked it was trying to suck,and the cow is a wee bit of a nutter,so it can take it's chances. I was always taught it's better to be a living coward than a dead hero!
