Small country, big disaster

Today's photo could only have a link to Nepal. I've spent a lot of today trying to contact and waiting for news from friends and colleagues in Kathmandu. My friends and colleagues I work most closely with are thankfully ok. It'll take longer to get in touch with all our contacts.

At least 1000 dead but that will definitely rise as people reach the more remote areas. At least the airport hasn't been destroyed so it will be possible to get aid into the country. A lot of the roads are awful at the best of times and I expect many, especially through the hills and mountains, have crumbled though so it'll be difficult to get supplies through.
