Diamonds are forever (until you lose them)

The Mono Monday theme of diamond was a challenge since, unfortunately, I don't own (m)any! 

I had a pair of earrings with tiny diamonds. I wore them all the time. When I was in New York for work last month I was on Lexington Avenue, somewhere around 39th Street. It was pouring rain, I rummaged in my bag to find the address of the place I was going to while holding my umbrella with my shoulder. A gust of wind caught the umbrella and ripped the earring out of my ear. It really hurt! I looked everywhere but couldn't find the earring. This is the remaining one.
