Dawn at the Parade

The flags held by the horse guard droop stark and regimented against the rising sun as we emerge from darkness into the dawning of the sun. I think of our gathering as a ritual of optimism and as the sun warms us see the imagery of sun worship. Silhouettes emerging out of dark. Sun picking out halos in heads of hair. A horse whinnies and snuffles.
