Chester

I spent the day in Chester shopping, eating and talking with my sister

The old walls surrounding the City of Chester are being restored. The walls were originally built by the Romans and fortified in medieval times to protect the city. This picture is taken at the place where the old city wall crosses the main shopping street. The walkway and clocktower have become unsafe and have been shored up with scaffolding. I think the work will take a while to complete so amazingly a complete replica of the archway and a temporary (but working clock) have been put in place for the duration of the works.
