Gilded bird of prey on Gladstone's Land
Gladstone's land is a house on the Royal Mile where a very rich merchant in the name of Thomas Gledstanes use to live in the 17th century. It was restored by the National Trust for Scotland to show how people lived in the 17th century in the cramped conditions of these high-rise buildings. This guilded bird of prey hanging outside the house relates to the fact that 'Gled' is an old Scots word for red-tailed kite, a bird of prey which is often found nesting among 'stanes' or stones (Gledstanes).
It was sunny but rather freezing in the morning, cloudy in the afternoon followed by hailstones and rain afterwards and then the sun appeared again later on in the evening. Typical Scottish weather!!! Too cold for Spring, I have to say. I hope it warms up again soon.
My thoughts are with all those suffering the consequences of the devastating earthquake in Nepal. Really sad this is happening...
Work was fine.
Thanks very much for all your nice comments and stars yesterday. I hope you all had a good day! :)
