Pink

Leaving the house in the morning, I am faced with two flowering cherries opposite, which always look cheery in the sunshine. They may (as I learnt on Saturday at the Manchester Art Gallery) represent youth (pass) and transitoriness (OK) in Japanese culture, but they cheer me up.

In a week, all the blossom will have fallen - and blown over to our side.
