chicks.....
What a day this has been! We just got back from a trip to Sydney, the main event was to pick up our order of just 2 young chickens from the Farmer's Coop there! told to come after 4pm to pick them up, we did our other shopping and headed over there! The truck was late....very late....it was now due to arrive about 6.30 pm! so off we went to do the rest of the chores! After most of the stuff on the list were bought, we called.....now it would be more like 7pm! We found another couple of things we needed to do and then headed over there! The parking lot was full of folks with all different types of containers....and they were waiting! Looks like the truck has just left Baddeck...an hour away....he should be here around 8pm! you can imagine the frame of mind of most of the 20 or so people who were waiting! Finally....8.30pm he pulled in and we got out of there around 8.50pm. A long wait for 2 new chickens...boy am i going to enjoy those eggs! They are now safely in the hen house, with our other 3 hens, but i have to say, they looked totally traumatized! and no wonder, they have just spent the last day, being driven from New Brunswick, in crates, without any other protection! I was quite appalled when i realised this was how they were transported!!! Hopefully they will get a nice quiet night here and be ok in the morning!
All of this after a very exciting morning here!
The Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design are putting
together a video for Youtube, and a tv commercial...the theme of which is Experience Crafts and Tourism here on Cape Breton! We were their first stop. They filmed me throwing pots, talking about pots, teaching 3 others how to throw pots....for over 2 1/2 hours! it was exciting and a lot of fun! they now have to edit all that tape down to a 3-5 minute thing for youtube and other media spots...and 10 seconds for the tv spot! Once we get a copy i'll make sure i post a link ~ it should be pretty interesting!
Now that i've scoffed down dinner at 10.15 pm...with a wee glass of wine...i'm ready for some quiet time here on blip and then off to bed with my book!
I've said it before....life on Big Hill is never dull!!!
ps this image is of day old chicks....not our 4-5 month old ones!
