Ambleside

There was no rain forecast for today so it seemed like a good time to visit Ambleside. We walked down to the lake and caught a ferry over. It took about 40 mins and had some gorgeous views. However i hadn't prepared for how cold it would be and had turned into ice by the time we arrived! After warming up with a hot chocolate, we took a short walk through a wood to Stock Ghyll Force, a set of waterfalls. It was beautiful and secluded, despite being very close to the town centre.

We made our way back and had soup and chips in a pub for lunch. I use the term 'soup' loosely, because it was more likely shredded vegetables in water! After eating we prepared for the long walk back to Windermere. It was quite steep at first and my ankles started hurting because my walking boots were digging into them., but the views were spectacular and it was definitely worth it. We reached home by around 6 and had dinner in front of the fire.
