A brilliant birthday

Too many good moments to capture today. I woke up to a lovely cooked breakfast from Sundip, after which he gave me a really thoughtful birthday present. A charcoal drawing of a rose as a birthday card, The Mathematics of Love by Hannah Fry and an interesting dot to dot book! We took a walk down to the lake and discovered the main touristy part of Windermere, where we found a cafe and had a delicious orange hot chocolate. So good it almost rivalled Costa's.

After heading back home and making a sandwich for lunch, we set off for Orrest Head. A hill with spectacular views of the lake and reasonably easy to climb (even for me!). We took our time on the way back down and passed through lots of farms and fields filled with sheep. There was a cute little lamb trapped between a wall and a fence of barbed wire, so we let the farmer know and hopefully he'll get rescued soon!

We got back home and rested our feet for an hour or two, whilst we mulled over where to eat dinner. It turns out that this was not a good idea, as several of the restaurants were booked up early. Eventually we found a little Cantonese restaurant, fairly close to the cottage which served some really tasty tofu. All in all, a pretty great birthday :)
