L'Eree coastal defence battery

Looking like a nice sunny day today, a good start for our extra long weekend celebrating the Queen's diamond jubilee.
The blip I have taken is along the West coast and is a relic of the Napoleonic wars (1793 - 1815). Over 60 coastal batteries were in service in Guernsey at the that time. The two cannons shown here are originals from that period but are mounted on reproduction 'Garrison' carriages. Each one weighs over 2 tons and would have had a crew of six to service it during action.
The cannons overlook Pleinmont Point. If viewed on 'big' you can just see the Hanois Lighthouse on the horizon to the right.
