Aperture on Life

Clandon House

My friend phoned and said I might like to go and get a couple of photos of Clandon House, When she said it was on fire I never thought that this would be the sight I found.

This is surely the most tragic photo I've ever taken.  Clandon House is a National Trust property.  It's very close to where I live and I visit often. I was told the fire broke out in the basement where there is a restaurant and the Surrey Infantry Museum.  The building was a spectacular example of Palladian architecture and housed precious works of art.

So, so sad.

I've just added another photo I took just after dark.  The house totally burnt out.
