RIP Rat
I didn't kill it! But someone obviously put rat poison out, but of course it came to my garden to die! I had brought the rat bait home from the plot meaning to put it out, as I had seen the rat during the last few days trundling around, and also discovered all its droppings in my empty seed trays - too much of a potential health risk for chickens and me. Am very pleased I did not use it - it's not a nice way to go as I witnessed. . A friend from the allotment had called and we had had a good chat about the plot we have taken over together, we both now have 2 1/2 plots each! I took her into the garden to show her my bird feeder and there it was! I thought maybe it was having a doze in the sun, so threw my shoe at it, but it didn't move, it was still breathing though. Milly and Tilly were out but had come into the kitchen - so hopefully they didn't meet. I had Portly Lucy to walk so covered it with a bowl as it was in the sun and there was a fly crawling over its face. I had a pleasant walk through the woods, love the way the sun comes through the leaves and trees. By the time I came home it was dead.
Spent the afternoon tidying up as friend London Boy coming tomorrow! He is coming to the Masked Ball. We have been friends since my third year at college when he moved into the spare room in our house as a PGCE student. The other 2 blokes moved out - one of which was a relief as he had been my boyfriend since the first year and I'd split with him over the summer! So it was just me and London Boy! We have stayed in touch ever since! We visit and have even gone on holiday together, most notably Ibiza for his 50th! He goes every year, often twice, and I had been there with him once before, and again for his 50th - he hired a villa and there was a great crowd of us - good times!
I also finally potted up some bulbs/rhizomes - Dahlias, Glory Lilly and a strange bulb which gets bigger each year and has only one fan of leaves - they have them 20 foot tall at the Eden Project but I forget its name!!
Also tried to repair my many solar lights, unsuccessfully this time - they just don't seem to last more than a couple of years - very frustrating!
Finally up to the allotment to put chickens to bed and bury the rat, didn't want it hanging around till bin day and couldn't just throw it in the field as something might eat it and die, plus it deserved a burial, it was only young and was so cute looking even in death. Death seems to be following me. I am more than acquainted with it so I don't know what the universe is trying to tell me but I wish it would stop.
Not sure about time for blipping until monday - so hope you all have a good bank holiday weekend - I plan to have nothing but fun at the Ball and with my Hobbit Hut!
P.S. No egg from Tilly - hooray!
