Bless the Black Triangle
At the opening night of DandiFest 2015 last week a silent film was launched which lists the names and circumstances of people who have died as a result of the horrendous policies of the current UK Government which has resulted in loss of benefits to some of the most vulnerable people in our society. Ill people, disabled people, people who have been scraping by on the meagre benefits that this Government believe is enough to 'live' on.
I post this today on the eve of the General Election, in memory of those we have lost and in hope for those who remain.
The film was made by my friend Vince Laws: poet, artist and disability rights campaigner and founder of The Norwich Dandies and Andrew Day: digital artist, film maker and campaigner.
We want this film to go viral. We want those putting themselves forward for election to see it, read the messages, to feel ashamed of what has gone before and to commit to positive change in the benefits legislation.
It's a silent film which lasts about 20 minutes. It is not an easy thing to watch. If you can't watch it, then share it. Here is the
