James and Amy's schools were both polling stations today. James got the day off, Amy had to do a sponsored walk with the rest of her school! However she was quite happy about this as it meant an early finish and 'hanging out' with her friends for the rest of the afternoon.

James was obviously pleased with a day off... doubly so when he found out I was looking after one of his friends, for his Mum (my friend) who was working. I took them both to the polling station this morning to get them out and give them a 'bit of education'.

I thought I was going to have to explain the democratic process but was very pleased when they began to tell me all about it, having learnt about elections at school. In fact the only thing they struggled with at the polling station, was letting the others voters, vote privately!
