KILHAM CHURCH
In days gone by the village of Kilham, East Yorkshire was a very busy place indeed. It was THE central market for the whole area and, as such demanded a grand building as a place of worship. The wind vane is in the shape of a turkey – enhancing this place as a centre of excellence for farming.
What changed – simply the canal system came to Driffield, six miles away, and took away all the local business.
Today it is still a thriving commuter village.
Hope you all have a grand weekend ahead.
Sporty Bit . . . tonight is the first promotional play-off games for Boro against Brentford – a team on top of my list for enjoyment to watch at the Riverside this year.
Brentford are a small town team, very much on an upward path. Their loyal supporters are grand and their Chairman seems to be very much part of the community – very much like our own Steve Gibson. The only thing I cannot work out is that their manager has already been told that he will not be there next season. Clearly success does not always breed success.
Anyway I am unusually calm about the whole thing . . . if Boro do not win I would be delighted for Brentford. Still – your magic powers are very much appreciated. #FCFB
