WW2 Flyover

Today, about 60 planes that flew in World War 2 did a flyover of the National Mall to celebrate the 70th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) day. Quite an exceptional event for the uniqueness of the planes (such as the only flying B-29 bomber, featured in my extras - the ones that carried the nuclear bomb to Hiroshima) and the flight pass which isn't normally open to any planes.

One of the photo collectives organized a get together and brought a retired Air Force colonel (and senior docent at the Air & Space Museum) to narrate the stories of planes and their interventions in the European and Asian theaters. He was at once informative and entertaining. Needless to say a ton of photographers were at hand, wielding cameras and lenses of all sizes - a veritable testosterone contest! ;)
