Diamond fireworks
Today was of course quite a special day. The Jubilee river pageant was spectacular - we'll never see the like again. Just occurred to me today that I have had the privilege to experience a Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilee. I doubt that will ever happen in another generation.
Only saw the second half of the pageant. The weather here was, as in many places, pretty wet today. I had noticed that Gable House, Redisham, quite local to me, was open as part of the National Gardens Scheme. When I woke and saw the weather I decided that I really ought to support them. All that effort only for the weather to spoil things. I think they probably had no more than a dozen vistors today but at least it meant being able to see the garden properly. And the cakes were lovely!
This is a shot of a large Alium - Christophii?!?!
Amazingly there were still berries on the Mistletoe.
And the Iris were still beautiful despite the rain. Such colours!
