Feeding grandchildren

Success in public eating with grandchildren needs some strategic thinking. The two who live down south are 14 and 10. One can take them with confidence to nice restaurants in the knowledge that if it takes twenty minutes for the first food to arrive one can engage them in an enjoyable conversation on the nature of dark matter or have a challenge to write down all the States of USA.

Today we took the northern grandchildren out for lunch. Two bright boys of 6 and just gone 4. Twenty minutes sitting at the table finding it hard to understand why there is no food is more of a challenge.

The answer shown above is The Carvery. Get there before the masses. Buy you tickets and straight to the food counter to fill up your plate.

Moreover, there is an added bonus. On Sunday lunchtime children eat free.
