The Girl Did Good!

What a marvellous weekend I have had in London, all thanks to the lovely LadyG, the hostess with the mostest! Yesterday was a marvellous day lead by the delightful Jeanettie6, a tour guide extraordinaire, who showed us the  wonders of Greenwich. I didn't think the day could be topped...but her ladyship pulled out all the stops and I'm sorry to say, Jeanettie, that she pipped you to the post by laying on the celebrity of the moment! In fact she almost did a double whammy...The Vamps were set to meet and greet a whole bunch of screaming teens in Leicester Square, but I decided to pass on them.

The plan for today was supposed to be a visit to the Sony World Photography Awards Exhibition, but the swines had fully booked it and wouldn't let us squeeze in! It looked like Jeanettie was an outright winner....but only for a short time! The sunshine was glorious, lunch was delicious and then her Ladyship led took me to the Southbank and we wandered around taking pics and then we saw the road was closed off near Big Ben...we went to investigate. A very helpful and lovely looking policeman (one of many he he he) informed us that we had just missed the VE Day parade...doh! But as we wandered through a park...my tour guide didn't tell me what it was called...we suddenly spotted a very fast moving huddle of people all waving microphones and cameras. We ran in and there was the celebrity for the day...David Cameron. I whipped out my camera and papped him.

"Bloody Hell, you pulled out all the stops for the celeb of the week!" I said to LadyG...she had kept that a secret. That was the moment she surpassed Jeanettie, whom I really didn't think could be topped! It isn't my best shot of the day but when someone goes to that amount of trouble for you, you just have to use the photo, don't you!

We were feeling in need of a celebratory ice cream, but as we wandered over to to buy one we had to stop and clap the wonderful VE Day Veterans who had taken part in the parade and were leaving through the park (whose name I don't know). When people called out. "Thank you," to them we both started to fill up, it was extremely moving. LadyG even got a kiss from one! It was a smudgy make up moment, thank goodness for sunglasses.

We ate our ice cream in the middle of The Mall and then my trip was coming to an end and we had to head to the station.

It is sad when good things come to an end...but thank you LadyG for a fabulous weekend...the tickets, the company, the hospitality, the laughs and the photo opportunities. How on earth will you top it next time? And flippin' heck, how can I compete when you come up North??
