Mothers Day
It was mothers day in NZ and at our school gathering I decided it needed to be recognised. After our fabulous night out we all gathered again for morning tea and lunch at me friends home she being the only one of the class still living in Owaka in the Catlins. I was up early and baked date scones and plain scones for morning tea with cream and all the trimmings. following morning tea I had this vase of white Nerines on the table to remind us of our mothers. We went around the room and each shared memories of their mothers, what they had meant to them and where they had come from. It was so interesting and we learnt even more about each other. Two mothers had come from England and one from the Orkneys and from many points around NZ. Surprising how many had gone to the Catlin's as teachers and married and settled there.
Lunch was simple just savouries sandwiches and cakes. More talking and looking at old school photos. The last person leaving at 8.30 pm. What a reunion it has been.
