Unsettling
Had a very unsettling morning after discovering that someone tried to attack my Mum and Dad in their home late last night. Ironically the perpetrator actually turned out to be someone staying in the holiday cottages next door. He was drunk and had been thrown out of a pub in the village so went in search of a fight. The police were called and he was caught eventually but only after threatening to kill my Dad and attempting to break into the house in a violent and sustained attack.
My parents are so rattled (understandably) by it, as are we. I couldn't concentrate today and was close to tears and unfocused in my meetings. Our parents' home (a farm) has always been our sanctuary and we just don't expect bad things to happen there. You don't expect to hear your parents sounding vulnerable either - they are your safe keepers and it really shocked me to know they were in distress. Would have done anything to be there with them today.
Did the commute again this morning. Left at 9am arrived at the nursery in Chorlton at 9.30am so not bad really. But took longer back tonight as left around 5.15pm (about 45mins) but with the radio on and the sun shining it really doesn't seem that bad after all.
Worth it to come home to these two (pictured) and a sunny tea in the kitchen and an evening playing as a family in our new lounge. The TV's connected and it's feeling more like home...
