Walk around Cocksburn reservoir

Have spent a big part of today trying to fix tickets for the Hay Book Festival only to discover that many of the events we wanted to go to are already sold out.
However they do have a new system whereby if you book online they will inform you of cancellations. So, here’s hoping…

So, after all that a long walk around the reservoir was called for.

Cuckoo - heard the first cuckoo of the year.

Two’s company - saw a heron sitting alongside a nesting swan. Good to see the swans are back.

March of the Pylons- every time I go up to the reservoir I watch with sinking heart the installation of giant pylons across the landscape.  Despite tremendous opposition throughout Scotland the building of them has gone ahead.

The power line sees 600 pylons, up to 213 ft. high (65 m) replacing the existing transmission line from Beauly near Inverness to Denny near Falkirk.
