Mao Village

Thursday was supposed to be our cultural experience. Where we visited a tradition Mao Village and learnt about their way of life. Although the experience wasn't very authentic, the pupils got a surpassing amount of information from it.
First we watched a dance performance, which was very much loud speakers and almost cabaret. Then we were able to walk around the village and have lunch. The village was mainly set up with tourist gift shops. However we were able to go and see inside an older woman's house. It was really interesting to see how a family in the village lived. They had a smoke pit for drying meat, a few chairs, quite basic furniture but everything you need including a fridge. The woman was very kind and shared her lunch of fried insects and noodles with some of the kids. Who tried their best to politely accept! This is a picture of her house.

We spent the rest of the afternoon travelling, and waiting around at the airport before coming back to keystone in the early hours of Friday morning.
