A grand day out
Had a wonderful day out with my blipmate PurpleIsleMum . We went for a walk at Kinellan Loch near Strathpeffer. Lots of birds about and several butterflies including peacock, small white, small tortoiseshell and a couple of orange tips , not one that I've seen that often here. We were very lucky to see the Slavonian Grebes and a pair of coots. We could hear a cuckoo and several sky larks. House martins and swallows swooped over the water picking off flies. We did nt see the pair of Mute swans that usually nest there but think they may just have been well hidden. The mountains still had a covering of snow making a nice backdrop to the fields and the glen.
After our walk we went to the café at Old railway station in Strathpeffer. We had a tasty soup with a good cheese scone. It was warm enough to sit outside and we enjoyed watching the little robin that came down to eat the crumbs, it was abit camera shy though.
We walked down the old track and came across this mass of brightly coloured tulips, what a wonderful display.
The blossom trees and the tulips in the Square also looked stunning.
Thank you Julie for a great day out, looking forward to the next time :)
