House guests

After slight stresses of trying to keep the house tidy around 4 playing children, calling out to the supermarket for provisions, last minute food preparation & organising, our guests arrived.
Caroline, Tony were first with Joe & Niamh, followed by Barry & Rebecca with my Mum & Haydn arriving last in a whirlwind of stresses & drama.
Alex's culinary skills were very well received as was my cake & the house with our respective families.
Disappointingly, Mum can never just say anything nice without little negative caveats...
"it's a nice house, but I couldn't live here, not to my tastes...there's too many stairs..."
"Bit too far to take Ferguson to school ever day"
"Not great for parking..."
"I don't like/eat chocolate cake.."
[don't you even want to try one your daughter has baked?]
"Rosé wine? I only drink White Zinfandel or Grenche..."

I know everyone has different opinions & their own idiosyncrasies but why does she have a always have a drama or issue with things?

Anyway, it was nice to have family round, in a house that is homely & comfortable & cosy.
