Dorset thatch
Drove over to my brother in West Dorset for a lightening visit in the morning to see him settling into his now "finished" new home. He had a lot of building work and repairs to do on the property and at long last he has moved in.
On the way back the journey which usually takes 40 minutes took 1 hr 40 mins. There was a bad accident on the Yeovil to Dorchester road so I turned round and started to drive along the country lanes only to find a policeman saying the lanes were closed. I returned to the main road and crossed over to the other side and down into the valley which in a very round about way brought me to this delightful house not far from where we live. It was originally a stone slate roofed barn standing empty at the bottom of a hill. The owners then decided to turn it into a dwelling for holiday lets. It is very popular as there are always cars parked outside during the summer months.
After a very late lunch N and I visited R and E who live on the ridge behind us and have a panoramic view from their hilltop of the surrounding countryside stretching for miles.
