The Umbrella

We went for a quick visit to the Venice Rookery this morning and then drove over to the pier at Venice Beach.  

There were two Snowy Egrets flying from one end of the pier to the other looking for anything tossed out by the fisherman.  Needless to say, I got quite a workout chasing them around.  After they ate their breakfast, they landed on a railing and began their mid-morning grooming sessions.  

I don't think I've ever seen a bird in this "formation" before but thought it was pretty cool especially with the one bit of sunlight on the birds eye
