Today didn't quite turn out as planned. It started well: I was nearly on target weight - could be okay for tomorrow and managed to finish the ironing* pretty quickly after breakfast. After lunch while it warmed up I drilled some holes in the some galvanised metal stakes to re-stake the flower borders. The plan was then to go for a bike ride** as it had warmed up as expected. Instead we spent the rest of the afternoon in the garden actually redoing the wooden edges to to the flower beds.

Before the light failed totally I took my camera out and tried some pictures - a few are in the extras. Pierre the peacock was sitting on the garage most of the afternoon and calling now and then, as was as usually pretty useless at DIY or gardening... I took his picture as I took some tools back to the garage and didn't expect much from it, with the setting sun behind him and the fact he is pretty dark and be tricky to capture well. As it happens the rear lit tree has gone all nice and bokeh, and there is just enough light to see his face and feathers.

* Interestingly as I've lost weight I'm now able to wear clothes I bought a long time ago that have been sitting about in the wardrobe unused for many years. Today was the first time they've been through the wash and hence the first time under an iron this century. What is really striking is that the quality of the cloth, the cut and the overall assembly is drastically better than the tat bought from the same shop today. It is really noticeable that British made M&S or BHS trousers of last century are significantly better than their overseas made contemporaries.

** Bike ride should be tomorrow, though it probably won't be as sunny.
