Newcastle, Co Down

Met up with the Veep in Newcastle and had lunch in the Percy French Inn. The Inn is in the grounds of the Slieve Donard Hotel (named for the Mourne Mountain shown in the photo) and it was quite peaceful, for a Saturday.

The Irish Open Golf Championship will be held there at the end of May and every room in the hotel is booked! Plus every other room and caravan for a ten-mile radius!

Glad I was there this weekend. It is a busy enough place with horrendous traffic-jams due to there being just one way through the town.

If you are going to the Open I recommend a bicycle for getting around!
