Fred & Andy

Cow and dog wars on the beach

We both slept much better and wake refreshed for a lazy beach day. Although not that lazy because we do spend some time reading and decide on our next destination. We fly from Kuala Lumpur to Pontianak on the west coast of Indonesian Borneo on 20th May .... exciting stuff ... and the Air Asia flights were really cheap! We hope to see Orangutans in the wild once there and also to travel to see  the Dayak tribes.

Fred is also in desperate need of some clothes as her wardrobe is depleted somewhat and what's left is threadbare. Whilst it would have been easy to pick clothes up in some of the countries we've traveled to its not here but she finds a little tailors and they knock her up a pair of trousers in a few hours so at least she has something to wear.

It rains again in the afternoon but we still manage another run in the early evening  although it  hard work in the wet sand.

There is an interesting American guy living two huts down from us. He has lived in the hut for 10 years and volunteers/works at a local temple helping the main man monk write academic papers in English. He's incredibly loud and a little over enthusiastic but nice enough. He tells us it is usually dry season here and puts it down to global warming. Another guy from one of the restaurants we've eaten in says it is just change time before the hot, dry season when the wind changes direction, coming from the land rather than the sea. Who knows but it's certainly been stormy since we've been here.
