Nutmeg

A colleague at work recently returned from a holiday in the East Indies and bought back some nutmeg seeds as gifts.  I think the red casing is mace.  Nutmeg is native to Indonesia but also cultivated in the Caribbean.  In European cuisine it is used in potato, milk and meat dishes.
