St Mary's Quad

This section of an ancient wall and gateway sits fenced off in St Mary's Quad at St Andrews University. Today as I walked past it I was attracted by the colourful flowers and the way the sun was shining on the lovely old stonework.
Many generations of students must have walked by and no doubt some admired it - today 3 students, one of them a girl, were having a "keepie uppie" game of football on the grass beside it.
The Bute building behind at one time housed the medical school - now it is in a modern building.
