Test Day

Millbrook, near Ampthill in Bedfordshire, was today's destination. This proving ground is usually off limits to journalists, because it is where car companies go to do development work on their yet-to-be-announced new vehicles.

Today was an exception to the normal rule, though. The event was the annual Test Day staged by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. All the car makers bring their models latest for invited journalists to try.

There was a bewildering choice of things to blip, but my favourite image of the day features one of the oldest vehicles brought along for the event. Jaguar proudly displayed this wonderful 1938 SS 100, one of the most fabulous cars in British motoring history.
