Wonderful spring
I cannot remember a springtime that matches this year's ior prolific blossom on every flowering tree and shrub.
From the train to Nottingham from London the other day there was mile after mile of whiteness in the hedgerows- much of it hawthorn.
This tree is much overlooked and rather taken for granted, but not only does it provide a vital food supply in autumn and winter for so many bird species, but the blossom, up close, is very delicate, subtle and very beautiful. Here is an example from our roadside hedge. hope you like it as much as I do,
