Horse plough..
..my new toy. I paid £40 for this, and having just tried it out, I am well chuffed.. I picked it up from The White Rabbit in Ullapool, Sam's secondhand, bric a brac emporium..
It's got a wheel at the front, a frame for attaching different implements, and a handle for pushing it. Simple. It came with a plough furrow, that will be ideal for ridging potatoes with. A set of tines for ripping the ground up. And two hoe blades, adjustable between around 9 inches and 16 inches. All fit on with nuts and bolts, and it even came with the original spanner. It may be a Ransomes make, judging by the colour of the frame and remains of a label.
I've just done 3 of the beds down the croft in about 15 minutes. A lot quicker than a hand hoe. Only drawback is that I'm walking on the ground that's just been worked.. It may bounce over stones too once teh ground dries out.
A cold day to start, so pottered in the greenhouse sowing some more herbs seeds, and planting up some Skirret plants that came today.
Then went down the croft to try the hoe out, and planted some Ulluco plants (a tuberous rooted plant), and some Swiss Chard plants that I forgot to plant the other day..
Took Tanni down to the beach after for a run..
Eggs and pub night..
