Running to Slow Down
Boys Weekend Away Day 2
We hoped that the weather would be good today which can challenge convention in the Lakes and we were truly blessed by a peerless day in this most beautiful part of the world.
8 peaks, 19miles running and two pubs doesn't begin to describe our day of intimacy with grandeur.
Looking over at the massive at the head of the Langdale Valley is like looking at a great magma flow and disturbance of rock from deep in the earth - paused in time a million years ago.
Looking around the many peaks we could see about us was for all of us a kind of coming home, all visited in easy and harsh weather down the years.
Our hearts soared as we climbed.
We recounted tales of races and injuries, of walks and friends and of embarassments and of our cherished families, of our work. We laughed and considered our lives freely.
For all the strain of the climbs and the jarring of the long descents we knew that the fells had treated us kindly today and had nurtured and restored something deep and vital in us.
