Something's afoot

Don't ask me why - I don't know - but for the last couple of days each day an extra pair of his shoes has appeared on our -ohh - I don't know what to call it - I'm the girl that should know what every little thing is called in a house. 
 
But clearly don't.

Let's just call it a horizontal balistrade.

But getting back to it, this little daily addition, whilst seriously of paltry interest to anyone, nevertheless, did give me a moments pause for wonder.  
What is he thinking?
