Firethorn - pyracantha.
And thorny it most certainly is.
I've been asked to do three large arrangements (of the floral kind) for the unveiling of the Bates Hall this Friday night. This one (which will be the largest - and very large to boot) could easily be used as a type of barrier, simply due to it's size and excessive thorniness. We'll have to put it somewhere at least vaguely out of the way.
At any rate, congratulations to all those (mostly the hall committee) for doing such a fantastic job. Along with organising the refurbishment, they have been madly planning, painting, polishing and the hall is transformed. It looks fabulous and is remarkably quieter, and will encourage alternate uses. But it seems they still have finished yet, as tonight they were talking about what to do next.
Were would we be without volunteers?
