Grey skies indeed
After yesterdays success today was meant to be a lighter day as the boys attempted to race in a four for only the second time. As most of the big public schools row sweep only they would have tough competition from the likes of Eton, Westminster and Hampton who would put out the better halves of their eights from the previous day. They qualified, but had a dreadful race in the semis and quite frankly were outclassed. Their lack of experience racing in a four, especially in tough windy conditions, showed through and they finished 5th in their heat, 10th overall out of 20. Not a great way to end the weekend, but every cloud has a silver lining and we got to leave early and after burgers on the way home the boys were decidedly more cheerful. I was exhausted through and after two nights on an airbed whilst 'the athlete' got the proper bed, I was ready for my mattress soon after walking in the front door. A little gin and tonic helped me on my way.... :-)
