Llanberis slate quarry narrow gauge railway
This tiny little steam engine is named Dolbadarn after a nearby castle. It runs on a track with a one foot eleven and a half inch gauge along the Northern shore of Llyn Padarn lake and the extensive slate quarries on the other side of the track. We had considered going up the Mount Snowdon mountain Railway, but at £27 per head with a half hour stop at the summit we thought it a little excessive. We decided that this little railway would be OK at £7 per head with a journey time of one hour, and I must say it was very enjoyable and the passengers were not half as tightly packed into the carriages as with the Snowdon Railway. It was a most enjoyable trip!
